WHAT IS A NOXIOUS WEED?

The term 'Noxious Weed' is a traditional, legal title assigned to certain non‐native plants.  Noxious weeds cause damage to our natural and agricultural lands, human and animal health, natural resources, and the economy.

WHAT DOES THE COUNTY NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL PROGRAM DO?

We work with all county landowners, both public and private, to prevent and reduce the harmful effects of invasive noxious weeds on our community.

Since many people are unfamiliar with noxious weeds and the problems they cause, we provide training workshops, informational brochures and field guides, education booth at community fairs and events, and on-site consultations.

Additionally, our Field Inspectors make routine surveys throughout the county to identify noxious weed sites. Once an infestation is found, the property owner is notified with information regarding noxious weed laws, identification, impact, and control options. Finally, all infestation sites are monitored to insure that control is achieved.
